TEMPE – Behind a career-high eight goals from senior attacker Lydia Oldknow, Sun Devil Lacrosse defeated Bucknell (4-2) 19-12 on Sunday afternoon at Sun Devil Lacrosse Stadium. Oldknow's eight goals tie a program single-game high and make her the third Sun Devil to achieve this feat.
Another showing of ASU’s (4-3) draw dominance ensued, as junior midfielder Anna Viglione notched 20 draw controls en route to the Sun Devils recording 26 draw controls to Bucknell’s seven.
Sophomore goalkeeper Regan Spichiger got the start and win behind a 15-save performance, which was double her previous career high of seven saves. The defense stopped Bucknell's 7th-ranked scoring offense in the NCAA, holding them to 12 goals, which was more than four goals shy of their single-game average.
How it happened
Arizona State came out of the gate strong, as the Sun Devils scored 11 goals in the first half including an opening goal from senior attacker Teagan Ng, her first of four in the game.
Oldknow scored three-straight goals early in the first quarter en route to an 8-goal record-breaking performance. ASU ended the first half with three unanswered goals to take an 11-6 lead.
Arizona State picked up goal #12 at the start of the second half, kicking off the running clock. Bucknell scored four straight goals in the third quarter but it wasn’t enough as the Sun Devils added five goals in the final frame to seal the victory by a 7-goal margin.
Sun Devil notables
- Senior attacker Teagan Ng pushed her goal-scoring streak to 27 games after four goals against Bucknell.
- ASU is over .500 for the first time this season after improving to 4-3 with Sunday's win.
- Bucknell, who had averaged allowing 11.4 goals per game allowed 19 to the Sun Devils on Sunday. The visitors were also averaging 16.4 goals per game as an offense, but were held over four goals shy of that mark.
- After a career-high eight goals, senior attacker Lydia Oldknow extended her point-scoring streak to 45 games – 44 of which she’s scored a goal in– dating back to the 2024 season.
- Oldknow also became the third player in Sun Devil history to amass 200 career points, as her 10 points today pushed her to 201 (148G-52A).
- Her eight goals was also a single-game career high in the program recordbooks, and was a feat that had not been accomplished since Carley Adams in 2021.
- In the program’s recordbooks, Oldknow is now second all-time in career goals 148, which is four behind her teammate Teagan Ng.
- With one goal and five assists on Thursday, senior attacker Jordyn Behar extended her point-scoring streak to 26 games, which dates back to the first game of the 2025 season.
- Freshman attacker Ava Whitt registered her first career multi-goal game with both of her two goals coming in the first half.
- Spichiger's 14 saves were a single-game career high and marked the second time this season that an ASU goalie has notched double-digit saves in a game.
