TEMPE - In a rematch of the 2025 Big 12 title game, Sun Devil Lacrosse (5-7, 0-1 Big 12) fell 14-8 to No. 5 Florida (8-2, 1-0 Big 12) in Sunday morning's contest that was initially scheduled for Saturday. After a quick start put the visitors ahead 5-1, ASU clawed back to pull within one, but never saw the lead at Sun Devil Lacrosse Stadium.
Senior attacker Lydia Oldknow led the Sun Devil offensive charge with her ninth hat trick of the season, netting four of the team's eight goals. She pushed her season total to 43 goals, which leads all Big 12 attackers.
Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper Regan Spichiger notched her 10th start and record double-digit saves for the fourth time this season. Following her 11-save day, Spichiger's 88 saves are the best individual goalie mark in the Big 12.
How it happened
Florida opened the scoring with the first four goals of the game, but the Sun Devils responded quickly after Oldknow netted the first goal for the Maroon and Gold with 5:19 remaining. Florida found the back of the net again, but Teagan Ng scored a free position goal of her own to have the Sun Devils trailing 5-2 to end the quarter.
Ng scored her second goal of the day off another free position shot to start the second frame. Florida and ASU continued to trade goals, and the next score from Addie Shevitz had the Sun Devils trailing by just one, 7-6, and Florida made a change in net. After the Gators netted another goal with 17 seconds left, the Sun Devils had an 8-6 deficit at halftime.
The Gators netted back-to-back goals to hit double digits in the third quarter and managed to push their lead up to 12-7 through three frames.
Oldknow scored her fourth goal of the game off a free position goal to start the final quarter, but no more ASU scores and back-to-back goals from Florida secured a 14-8 win for the Gators.
