TEMPE - Sun Devil Lacrosse (5-6) opens Big 12 conference play against No. 5 Florida (7-2) on Saturday, March 28, at Sun Devil Lacrosse Stadium for a rematch of last year’s Big 12 title game. First draw is slated for 10 a.m. MST and can be seen on ESPN+ or followed on Stat Broadcast.
Saturday marks the 6th time the Sun Devils have faced off against Florida, and it will be the third meeting since joining the Big 12 Conference. Florida is the lone Big 12 opponent that ASU has not earned a win over.
Sun Devil outlook
ASU could not overcome 11 first-half turnovers against No. 2 Stanford last weekend. Despite trailing 8-3 at halftime, the Sun Devils managed to cut the Cardinal lead to three in the second half, but the home team was victorious 14-8. Following the loss, ASU dropped to 5-6 on the season and is winless on the road in four games. Anna Viglione was named Big 12 Draw Specialist of the week on Wednesday, and followed that up with Tewaaraton Watch List honors on Thursday.
ASU leads the Big 12 in assists per game (8.36) and draw controls per game (17.64). Behar’s 38 assists and Oldknow’s 39 goals each lead the Big 12 in their respective categories.
Scouting the opponent
The Florida Gators made the Final Four last season and fell to the eventual champions, North Carolina. They’ve opened the 2026 campaign with a 7-2 record in nine games and are 3-1 in four road contests.
They are led by Clark Hamilton, who has a team-leading 33 goals and 40 points on the year. No other player has 20+ goals. They average 16.89 goals per game, which is the 3rd-best team mark in the NCAA.
Sun Devil notables
- On Wednesday, ASU had Anna Viglione recognized as the Big 12's Draw Specialist of the Week for the third time this season.
- Viglione was also announced as a second-round addition to the Tewaaraton Watch List and became the program's first student-athlete to receive this nod.
- All five of ASU's wins this season have come on the road.
- The Sun Devils have not defeated a ranked team since taking down No. 16 USC 13-12 on May 5, 2022.
- Senior attacker Teagan Ng brings a 31-game goal-scoring streak into Saturday's contest.
- Lydia Oldknow holds a point-scoring streak of 49 games – 48 of which she’s scored a goal in– dating back to the 2024 season.
- Jordyn Behar owns a 30-game point-scoring streak, which dates back to the first game of the 2025 season.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Regan Spichiger has 77 saves, which is a mark that leads the Big 12 Conference.
- ASU’s 17.64 draw controls per game are the second-best mark in the NCAA.
