TEMPE – After a Tuesday road game at UTEP snapped a streak of 25 consecutive home games for Sun Devil Softball, Arizona State will pick up where it left off with three more games at Farrington Stadium when ASU welcomes No. 21/15 Oklahoma State to town.

SERIES SCHEDULE:

  • Friday, March 13 – vs. Oklahoma State, 6 p.m. MST (ESPN+)
  • Saturday, March 14 – vs. Oklahoma State, 4 p.m. MST (ESPN+)
  • Sunday, March 15 – vs. Oklahoma State, 1 p.m. MST (ESPN+)

TELEVISION:

Alex Coil (play by play) and Tyler Paley (analyst) will be on the broadcast call for all three of this weekend’s conference games between the Sun Devils and Cowgirls.

THE OPPOSITION:

  • Arizona State has an all-time record of 9-10 against Oklahoma State dating back to the pair’s first-ever meeting on March 12, 1981, when the Cowgirls won, 2-1, in Tempe.
  • Oklahoma State will come to Tempe for this weekend’s series with a 6-1 all-time record against the Sun Devils at Farrington Stadium.
    • Arizona State is looking for its first win over the Cowgirls in Tempe since Feb. 16, 2002, when the Sun Devils won, 1-0, behind a seven-inning complete game shutout by Erica Beach.
  • However, despite the 1-6 record against Oklahoma State for Arizona State in Tempe, the Sun Devils bested the Cowgirls, 2-1, when the two last met on May 8, 2025 during the quarterfinals of the 2025 Big 12 Softball Championship in Oklahoma City.
    • Kenzie Brown struck out 13 of the 29 batters she faced and surrendered just three hits and one earned run.
  • The Cowgirls enter the weekend series with a 17-7 overall record that includes a 1-2 mark in conference play and 1-2 record away from Stillwater.
    • Last weekend, Oklahoma State dropped two of three to then-No. 24/RV UCF (1-4; 2-1; 4-6) to open Big 12 play.
    • In true road games, the Cowgirls lost a pair of non-conference contests at then-No. 18/17 Stanford (2-4; 0-10) at the Stanford Invitational during the season’s first weekend, before beating Texas State in San Marcos, 5-0, on Feb. 19.
  • This weekend’s three-game series will mark the first time Oklahoma State has played Arizona State at Farrington Stadium in Tempe in back-to-back seasons since the 1993 and 1994 seasons.
    • The Cowgirls won both of those matchups, 5-0 and 2-0, respectively.

LEADING OFF:

  • If Kenzie Brown makes pitching appearances in two different games over the weekend, the senior right-hander will reach the 100-career pitching appearance milestone.
    • Brown, a fifth-year senior, will enter the weekend with 98 career pitching appearances:
      • 22 at Tulsa in 2022
      • 31 at Arizona State in 2023
      • 35 at Arizona State in 2025
      • 10 at Arizona State in 2026
  • Additionally, Kenzie Brown will enter the three-game weekend conference series needing just 17 strikeouts to surpass the 500-career collegiate strikeout mark.
    • She will enter her next pitching appearance with 484 career strikeouts:
          • 45 at Tulsa in 2022
          • 76 at Arizona State in 2023
          • 289 at Arizona State in 2025
          • 74 at Arizona State in 2026
  • Kaylee Pond’s next walk will be her 20th on the season, which would give the first-year Sun Devil 20-or-more walks in each of her four collegiate softball seasons.
    • 29 at Iowa State in 2022
    • 26 at Cal in 2024
    • 29 at Cal in 2025
    • 19 at Arizona State in 2026
  • Arizona State’s first-year pitching coach John Bargfeldt spent five seasons (2019-23) as the pitching coach at Oklahoma State, where he helped guide the Cowgirls to three consecutive Women’s College World Series appearances from 2021 to 2023.
    • While in Stillwater, Bargfeldt helped the Oklahoma State pitching staff to multiple All-American honors and being ranked among the nation’s best in team earned run average.
