TEMPE - Despite 10 goals in the second half, Sun Devil Lacrosse's (2-3) efforts fell short against USC (4-2) in the 16-14 loss on Saturday afternoon. Behind a season-high 15 draw controls, junior midfielder Anna Viglione solidified herself atop the program's recordbooks as the all-time leading draw taker with 332 draw controls.

Offensively, a pair of senior attackers in Lydia Oldknow and Jordyn Behar combined to record 14 points in the loss, as Behar (2G, 6A) tallied her third-straight eight-point game and Oldknow (5G, 1A) was one shy of her single-game career high in goals.

How it happened
The visitors were the board first two goals to open the first period. Redshirt sophomore attacker Addie Shevitz was first on the board for ASU, and Behar followed with a goal of her own to even the score 2-2. USC closed out the quarter with two more goals to take a 4-2 lead into the second quarter.

USC went on to score the next seven goals in the second frame to hit double-digit scoring and hold on to an 11-2 lead. In this time, sophomore goalkeeper Regan Spichiger replaced freshman Gabriella Henry in net. A pair of goals from senior midfielder Claire Beucher stopped the bleeding, and allowed for the Sun Devils to pull back before halftime, with the score standing at 11-4 at the midway point.

ASU opened the third quarter hot with three-straight goals behind Kayli Carannante and Addy Westerberg to push ASU's goal total to seven, facing an 11-7 deficit. Both teams then tacked on another pair of goals before the quarter ended, and it was the Trojans holding on to a 13-9 lead headed into the final frame.

After USC scored the first two goals to open the fourth quarter, the Sun Devils went on to net five of the final six goals in the frame. Despite the late comeback effort, it was not enough as ASU fell 16-14 on Saturday.
