TEMPE – No. 6 Sun Devil Women’s Tennis will close out February with the start of Big 12 conference play against TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday at 4:30 p.m. MST and Baylor in Waco, Texas, at 1 p.m. MST.

Arizona State will play TCU for the second time in a month after defeating TCU, 4-2, on Jan. 26 during ITA Kickoff Weekend. Sara Svetac clinched the match in her first dual of the season, winning 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 from the No. 2 position.
Graduate Vivian Ovrootsky leads the team with eight wins this spring and was named Big 12 Player of the Week of Feb. 23 after her undefeated weekend. The San Jose, California native went 3-0 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles at the Red and Blue invite, dropping only six games in three singles matches.
Junior Emilija Tverijonaite has a 6-0 record in duals and a 9-0 record this spring, helping the Sun Devils to their best 10-game start since the 2022 season.
Last time out
The Sun Devils picked up a decisive 4-0 win over Denver in their most recent outing, improving to 8-2 on the season. With all winning courts finishing in straight sets, junior Sara Svetac and junior Karsyn Evans bookended the singles matches, conceding just three games combined across four sets. Ovrootsky continued her strong stretch of play with a win on court three. She has now won seven consecutive matches and sits at 8-3 on the year.
The team picked up a 4-0 win over Tulsa and won four singles matches en route to a 4-1 win over Texas Tech last Friday, Feb. 20.
Sun Devil outlook
No. 6 Arizona State (8-2)
- A win on Friday would give the Sun Devils a perfect 6-0 record in the month of February and move ASU to 6-0 all-time over TCU.
- A win against Baylor would be the team’s first win against the Bears since March 4, 2023, and even the all-time series to 2-2.
- With a victory on Friday, the Sun Devils would win six-straight matches for the first time since March 26 - April 16, 2022.
- In doubles, ASU is 6-0 in matches when it wins the doubles point.
- No. 6-ranked junior Emilija Tverijonaite has defeated three ranked opponents on her way to a 9-0 record this spring, taking down No. 16 Jana Hossam Salah (USC), No. 84 Raquel Caballero Chica (TCU) and No. 49 Ziva Falkner (Pepp). At the UT Invite, she beat No. 17 Valeria Ray (Vanderbilt).

- Freshman Sarang Lim is unbeaten from the No. 6 spot with a 3-0 record and has clinched two wins over No. 15 Pepperdine and Texas Tech earlier this year.
Opponent outlook
No. 33 TCU (6-1) - TCU boasts a 6-1 record on the season, having swept its previous five opponents heading into Big 12 play.
- The Horned Frogs’ singles roster is led by senior Yu-chin Tsai. She holds a 5-0 dual record and has won in each of her outings in straight sets.
- In singles, TCU has not lost a dual since the season opener against ASU, dropping only three points in its last six matches.
- The Horn Frogs have found a majority of their success on the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, earning 12 of their 21 wins from the latter courts.
- In doubles, they have posted an 11-2 record with the first and second courts going 4-1 and having a 3-0 record from the No. 3 position.
No. 54 Baylor (4-3)
- Zuzanna Kubacha leads Baylor’s singles team with a 5-0 record and a five-match win streak, while Mu-jie Tzeng (5-2), Na Dong (4-2), and Kennedy Gibbs (4-2) have also been steady contributors.
- In doubles, Dong (4-1) and Gibbs (4-2) lead the team, combining for a 9-3 singles record.
- Baylor enters conference play on a two-match winning streak and will face Arizona (7-5) before closing out their road trip against Arizona State (8-2).
