TEMPE – No. 11Sun Devil Women’s Tennis will compete in Tucson to compete in the Red and Blue event hosted by Arizona at Tucson Racquet Club and Robson Tennis Courts. Arizona State will face Texas Tech on Friday at 12 p.m. MST, Tulsa on Saturday at 8 a.m. MST and Denver on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. MST.

Live stats will be available for all the Sun Devils' matches this weekend on StatBroadcast.

Friday, Feb. 18
ASU vs. Texas Tech - Tucson Racquet Club - 12 p.m.
(Doubles only): ASU vs. Tulsa - Landelle Robson Tennis Court - 4 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 19
ASU vs. Tulsa - 8 a.m. - Tucson Racquet Club
ASU vs. Denver - 12:30 p.m. - Tucson Racquet Club

Heading into this weekend's series, junior Emilija Tverijonaite is undefeated in dual matches, 4-0, and is 7-0 overall. Senior Vivian Ovrootsky also remains undefeated in duals at 5-0. 

ASU will face Texas Tech, Tulsa and Denver to wrap up its non-conference slate
before facing TCU on Feb. 27, the following weekend in Fort Worth, Texas. Despite the Red Raiders being a conference opponent, the matchups will not count in conference play. The Sun Devils will face the Red Raiders in Tempe on April 3 at 5 p.m. MST in Big 12 play.

Last time out
Arizona State improved to 5-2 after defeating No. 15 Pepperdine, 4-3, last Sunday. The match featured four singles wins from Emilija Tverijonaite, Vivian Ovrootsky, sophomore Lily Taylor and freshman Sarang Lim. The Sun Devils took the match, 4-3. 

ASU hadn’t beaten the Waves since Feb. 3, 2002, by the score of 6-1. Head coach Jamea Jackson won her second game against a top-20 opponent. 

Sun Devil outlook
No. 11 Arizona State (5-2)

  • A win against Texas Tech on Friday would be the team’s first three-game win streak since March 9-16, 2025.
  • A victory would be the Sun Devils’ first win against Texas Tech since Jan. 28, 2012, in a 4-1 win at home and the team’s third win over the Red Raiders all-time.
  • In doubles, ASU is 4-0 in matches when they win the doubles point. 
  • Junior Emilija Tverijonaite has defeated three ranked opponents this dual season, defeating No. 16 Jana Hossam Salah (USC), No. 84 Raquel Caballero Chica (TCU) and No. 49 Ziva Falkner (Pepp). At the UT Invite, she beat No. 17 Valeria Ray (Vanderbilt).
  • One win in doubles this weekend for Tverijoniate will be her 30th career win in doubles.
  • Graduate Vivian Ovrootsky leads the team with five wins this dual season, including a perfect 4-0 mark from the No. 3 position.
  • Freshman Sarang Lim is 2-0 in three-set matches this spring.
  • Sophomore Aiya Nupbay returned to the lineup, appearing in doubles with junior Sara Svetac last Sunday.

Opponent outlook
No. 32 Texas Tech (7-2)

  • The Red Raiders have a 3-0 record against Power Four schools this season.
  • They swept Florida State on Feb. 7, 4-0, and beat Arizona in a close 4-3 battle on Feb. 6. They defeated Oregon in another competitive one, 4-3, on Feb. 1.
  • Mariia Hlahola leads the team with six wins in dual matches this spring and has a 6-3 record, with four of them coming from the No. 3 position.
  • Hailey Murphy is 5-0 this spring, splitting time between the No. 1 and No. 2 spots.
  • Kate Dmitrichenko/Hailey Murphy in doubles are 7-1 from the No. 1 spot and are ranked No. 62 in the ITA rankings.
  • Texas Tech was picked to finish fourth in the Big 12 women’s tennis preseason poll at the start of the season.

Tulsa (4-6)

  • Tulsa has lost five straight coming into this weekend and will face Iowa before its match against Arizona State on Saturday.
  • The Sun Devils are 2-0 all-time against the Golden Hurricane.
  • Last season, Tulsa went 19-9 and qualified for the NCAA Tournament before falling to Oklahoma State in the first round.

No. 61 Denver (5-2)

  • The Pioneers won five straight to begin the season, including a 4-2 win over Colorado on Feb. 1.
  • Denver goes into the weekend dropping its last two matches against BYU and Utah.
  • Arizona State is 2-0 all-time against Denver, winning its last matchup, 4-3, on April 7, 2019, in Tempe.
