TEMPE – No. 11 Sun Devil Beach Volleyball will kick off the 2026 season this Friday at the Canyon Classic hosted by Grand Canyon, facing UC Davis and No. 5 TCU on Friday and Colorado Mesa and No. 13 GCU on Saturday.
The Sand Devils face UC Davis at 9 a.m. MST followed by TCU at 11 a.m. MST on Friday. On Saturday, ASU will play Colorado Mesa at 9 a.m. MST before finishing the weekend off against GCU at 11:30 a.m. MST.

Sun Devil Outlook
No. 11 Arizona State (0-0)
- The Sand Devils are coming off of a record-breaking season in 2025 with 22 wins, a new high for the program. ASU ended the 2025 season ranked No. 12 for the second year in a row.
- Last season the Sun Devils placed second in the Big 12 after making it to the finals at championships, falling to TCU 3-2.
- The Maroon and Gold boasts 10 returners and seven new players, consisting of three freshmen and four transfers.
- Head coach Kristen Glattfelder is in her third year at ASU. Glattfelder has had 20-plus win seasons since she started in Tempe.
- Redshirt senior Samaya Morin, 2025 AVCA Second Team All-American, will be returning for the Sun Devils along with partner redshirt senior Ava Kirunchyk. This duo had a successful 3-1 run at the 2025 Big 12 Championship. They also competed at the AVCA Pairs National Championships in the fall, placing seventh.

UC Davis (0-0)
- The Aggies were 18-17 last year, losing in the first round of bracket play in the Big West Championship.
- UC Davis was ranked fourth in the 2026 Big West Preseason Coaches Poll.
- This will be the second meeting all-time between ASU and UC Davis, with the Sun Devils taking the first meeting just last season.
No. 5 TCU (0-0)
- TCU is the reigning NCAA National Champions. The Horned Frogs finished 2025 with a 32-5 record. The team was also 2025 Big 12 Champions.
- ASU trails in the all-time series against TCU, 2-18. The Sun Devils’ last win came in 2018.
Colorado Mesa (0-0)
- Colorado Mesa had a record-setting 2025 season with a 21-11 record.
- The Mavericks made an appearance in the AVCA Small College Beach Championship where they fell to University of Tampa in the Gold Bracket.
- The Sun Devils are a perfect 8-0 against Colorado Mesa all-time.
No. 13 GCU (0-0)
- GCU earned a 23-11 record last season, falling in the MPSF Beach Volleyball Championship finals.
- The Lopes were undefeated at home last season, going 7-0.
- In the all-time series, ASU trails GCU 3-6, but the Sun Devils have won each of the last two meetings in the last two years.
