COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Sun Devil Hockey senior forward Bennett Schimek was tabbed as NCHC Forward of the Month on Monday morning, collecting monthly honors for December.

Bennett Schimek holds Desert Hockey Classic trophySchimek is the first Sun Devil to win an NCHC monthly honor since the team joined the conference in 2024. The co-captain was tabbed as NCHC Forward of the Week on Dec. 16, 2025, for a career-best, five-point performance in the 6-3 win over No. 5 Minnesota Duluth on Dec. 13, 2025.

The Mendota Heights, Minn., native finished with three goals and four assists to lead the league with seven points during the month in four games. Additionally, Schimek led the league, averaging 1.75 points per game with a league-best +7 in the plus/minus category in December.

On the season, Schimek is second on the team with 31 points, which also ranks second in the NCHC. He is first in the league with 21 assists, which is tied for the best in the nation. His 1.41 points per game ranks second in the NCHC and tied for fifth in the country. 

In his five-point performance against No. 5 Minnesota Duluth, he surpassed 100 career points, becoming the fifth active Division I player to reach the century mark. He currently has the fifth most points among active skaters in Division I hockey, with 105 points (44G, 61A).

Arizona State continues NCHC conference play this weekend hosting Miami beginning Friday, January 5, at 7 p.m. MST from Mullett Arena.
