COLORADO SPRING, Colo. – Sun Devil Hockey will embark on its first road trip of the 2026 calendar year by paying a visit to Colorado College for a two-game series starting Friday, Jan. 30 at Ed Robson Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The weekend series marks the second meeting between the schools this season.

Last time out
Last weekend, ASU hosted No.4 North Dakota at Mullett Arena, dropping both games in the series, 7-4 (EN) and 5-3.
Despite the loss in the series opener, the ASU offense scored seven goals over the weekend against the sixth-best defense in the nation. The Sun Devils saw a season-high 12 different skaters record at least one point on Friday night.
On Saturday, sophomore defenseman Brasen Boser scored his first goal of the season while the team’s power play unit went 4-for-9 over the weekend.
Previous meeting
ASU played host to then-No. 20 Colorado College on Nov. 7-8, 2025. The Maroon and Gold tied game one of the series, 3-3, after being down 3-0 early in the game and won in a shootout, but dropped game two of the series, 3-1 (EN).
On Nov. 7, 2025, the trio of freshman forward Jack Beck, senior forward Cruz Lucius, and senior forward Bennett Schimek recorded eight of the nine total points for the Sun Devils. On special teams, ASU’s power play unit went 2-for-4 on the man-advantage with just six shots recorded on the power play.
Scouting the Tigers
Since their last meeting against the Sun Devils, the Tigers have gone 6-7-2 with wins over then-No. 4 Minnesota-Duluth, No. 16 Providence, and No. 4 North Dakota. Colorado College’s leading goal scorers are Owen Beckner and Gavin Lindberg, both sophomore forwards.
Beckner was chosen by the Ottawa Senators in the 2023 NHL Draft and has 16 points in 18 games played with a team-best +7 in the plus/minus category.
Last week, Colorado College split its series against Omaha, winning the Saturday contest, 3-1, in Omaha.

- The Sun Devils are looking for their first win at Colorado College since Dec. 2, 2023, in a 2-0 shutout win. ASU is 2-4-2 in road tilts against the Tigers.
- Forward Bennett Schimek is now the ninth Sun Devil in program history to reach 70 career points. He’s six points away from surpassing Josh Doan (2021-23) for eighth all-time.

- Lucius and Schimek both have tallied a team-leading 23 assists this season, which is tied for the eighth most in a season by a Sun Devil.
- ASU is 9-2-1 when Lucius has two or more points this season.
- The Sun Devils are one of two NCHC teams (Minnesota Duluth) to have multiple players with 30-or-more points (Lucius, 35, Schimek, 33).
- Lucius is one of six skaters in the nation to tally 100 or more shots this season and one of two forwards (Eric Pohlkamp, Denver) to reach the century mark.
- Goaltenders Connor Hasley and Samuel Urban were named to the Mike Richter Award watchlist. ASU is one of three schools with multiple goaltenders nominated, joining Sacred Heart and Dartmouth as the only schools to do so.
- Urban currently leads the NCHC with 31.80 saves per game, while ranking tied for third in save percentage (.914) with teammate Connor Hasley (.914).
- In NCHC play, Urban ranks first with 33.43 saves per game and is tied for third with a .914 save percentage.
- On the dot, Mesa native Logan Morrell ranks fifth in face-off winning percentage (.572) and is tied for sixth in the conference with 246 face-off wins.
- Freshman forward Sam Alfano is riding a three-game point streak with a goal and two assists in the last three games.
- Sophomore defenseman Joel Kjellberg ranks second in the NCHC with 46 blocks, while tied for sixth in conference play with 21 blocks in NCHC play
