IRVING, Texas – Following the best meet of her career, senior Kimberly Smith from Sun Devil Gymnastics is this week’s Big 12 Gymnast of the Week, the first weekly award she has received.
Smith is Arizona State’s second weekly award winner this season after junior Reese Grolla was specialist of the week two weeks ago. This is the first gymnast of the week honor for a Sun Devil since 2022 when Hannah Scharf and Emily White each earned a Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week nod that season. Since joining the Big 12, this is ASU’s third weekly award.

Smith had the best meet of her career in the come-from-behind win over No. 22 BYU last Friday. She earned a new career high in the all-around with a 39.475 with season highs on vault (9.850), beam (9.850) and floor (9.900). The vault and beam scores tied her career highs as well. Additionally, she won event titles for vault, floor and the all-around.
The Gym Devils are back on the road this Friday, competing at No. 14 Utah at 7 p.m. MST on ESPN+.
