TEMPE – Sun Devil Women’s Tennis notched two wins to open its 2026 season with 4-0 sweeps over UC Davis and Grand Canyon University on Saturday at Whiteman Tennis Center.

The Sun Devils opened up the 2026 season with a 4-0 sweep over UC Davis. The No. 2 pair of graduate Vivian Ovrootsky and junior Emilija Tverijonaite secured a 6-1 win in doubles. Then, the freshman pair of Sarang Lim and Zlata Bartanusz had a 6-4 win on court three to clinch the doubles point for ASU.
In singles play, sophomore Lily Taylor got a straight-sets, 6-1, 6-1 win to give ASU a 2-0 lead. Freshman Zlata Bartanusz would cruise to a 6-1, 6-2, straight-sets win over Aileena Hu to push the ASU lead to 3-0. Then, newcomer Sarang Lim notched the first dual win of her career with a 6-1, 6-2 victory to clinch the match for the Sun Devils.

In the second match of the day, the Sun Devils took the doubles point with a 6-1 victory by Tverijonaite and Ovrootsky, then the duo on court one, Evans and Taylor won their first doubles match of the year with a 6-3 result to clinch the doubles point.
The Sun Devils netted another point in singles from junior Karsyn Evans, who won 6-0, 6-0 in her singles match over Peyton Duckett to give ASU a 2-0 lead. Then, Ovrootsky won her first match of the spring with a 6-1, 6-2, win on court three to make it 3-0 for the Sun Devils. Bartanusz would later clinch the match for her second win of the day in singles, 6-2, 6-2 to give ASU the victory.
