TEMPE– Sun Devil Men’s Tennis (1-0) continues their six-match span in the Copper State to open January with a pair of doubleheaders this week against Wichita State, New Mexico State, UNLV, and Utah State. A pair of matches will be hosted at Whiteman Tennis Center on Wednesday, January 14, and the other two will take place at Chandler Tennis Center on Sunday, January 18. 

Start times are scheduled for 10 a.m. MST and 3 p.m. MST both days of action. Only Wednesday’s matches will have live stats available, and no matches are set to be streamed. 

1/14 (Whiteman Tennis Center)

ASU vs. Wichita State 10 a.m. MST – Live Stats

ASU vs. New Mexico State 3 p.m. MST – Live Stats

1/18 (Chandler Tennis Center)

ASU vs. UNLV 10 a.m. MST

ASU vs. Utah State 3 p.m. MST

SUN DEVIL NOTABLES:

  • ASU downed Idaho 7-0 in the season opener on Jan. 11. It was the team’s first sweep since March 28, 2025 against Texas Tech.
  • The Sun Devils are 1-for-1 with the doubles point this season.
  • All six new faces played for the Maroon & Gold on Sunday, and all six came out victorious. 
  • The matches this week are two through five of the six matches spanning Jan. 11-20.
  • Five of the six ASU singles wins on Sunday came in straight sets.

PREVIEWING THE SHOCKERS (0-0):

  • Wednesday’s match will be their first of the season.
  • Zaid Mashni is ranked #66 in the ITA Singles Polls.
  • The Shockers went 12–13 last season, their best record and highest win total under Head Coach Darragh Glavin.
  • WSU is 2–1 in season openers under Glavin, losing at UCF in last season's opening match.
  • The Shockers are 27–21 all-time in their first match of the season.
  • Wichita State is 2–11 all-time when opening the season with a road match.

PREVIEWING THE NMSU AGGIES (0-0):

  • Wednesday’s match will be their first of the season.
  • Ended the 2024-25 slate 9-15.
  • Posted a 1-9 record on the road last season.
  • In the 2025 matchup against ASU, NMSU was defeated 6-1. 

PREVIEWING THE UNLV REBELS (0-0):

  • They are set to face off against Wichita State on Saturday before playing the Sun Devils.
  • Last season, UNLV was 7-12 and posted a 1-5 road record
  • They lost in the first round of the Mountain West tournament to UNM, 4-1. 
  • They bring a seven-man roster to Tempe, and do not have any true freshman on the squad

PREVIEWING THE USU AGGIES (0-0):

  • They are set to face off against Wichita State on Friday before playing the Sun Devils.
  • Had a 15-9 record at the end of the 2024-25 season after falling to UNM in the Mountain West Championships
  • Owned a 5-4 road record last season. 
  • Their nine-man roster features two true freshmen.
