Sun Devil outlook
Arizona State (1-1)

  • The Gym Devils had a solid opening weekend, taking second place in their home opener with a 195.100. Despite falling short to San Jose State, Arizona State edged out UC Davis by a large margin.
  • Arizona State scored over 49.000 on both vault and floor, the latter scoring highest with a 49.075.
  • In her collegiate debut, freshman Kylee Bromley earned three event titles. She took the all-around title outright with a score of 39.125 and tied for the lead on bars with a 9.825 and floor with a 9.875. Bromley’s 9.875 on floor is tied for the highest score of the season for the Gym Devils so far.
  • Preseason Big 12 Team selections Reese Grolla and Kimberly Smith started their seasons out strong. Grolla, a junior transfer in her Sun Devil debut, took the beam title with a 9.850 and tied Bromley for first on bars (9.825). Smith, a senior, tied Bromley for first on floor (9.875).
  • Three other freshmen made their collegiate debuts. Safia El Mammann led off on vault for the Sun Devils, scoring a 9.850. Additionally, Delanie Kelly competed on vault, floor, and beam, scoring 9.775s on vault and floor, and a 9.700 on beam. Adele Ossi competed on bars.
  • Sophomore Tiara Platkin made her debut on floor, earning a 9.725 in her first collegiate floor routine.

Opponent outlook
Kentucky (0-3)

  • The preseason No. 9 ranked Wildcats struggled in their opening meet, falling to No. 6 Michigan State, No. 14 Michigan, and No. 20 California in the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad with a 194.925. Kentucky’s 194.925 score was its lowest team score since at least 2017.
  • Two Wildcats won event titles, taking home victories in vault and all-around.
  • Last season, Kentucky finished the season 11-14 with a 3-5 record in the SEC. The Wildcats took home third in the Pennsylvania Regional Final, falling to No. 1 LSU and No. 8 Michigan State.
  • Two Wildcat gymnasts competed in the Individual National Championships, with one placing ninth on beam and the other 15th on floor.
  • The Sun Devils are 2-2 all-time against the Wildcats. Kentucky has won the last two meets, with the most recent meeting of the two squads in 2015 seeing Arizona State fall to then No. 13 Kentucky in a tri-meet. This will be the first head-to-head meet between the two schools since 2003, when the Sun Devils set the then-highest (now second highest) team total of all-time with a 198.275.
