PHOENIX - No. 24 Sun Devil Baseball has made its first appearance of the season in the D1Baseball rankings after a sweep of Utah. ASU comes in at No. 24 with arguably the biggest week of the season on deck. The team also appears at No. 25 in Perfect Game's weekly Top-25 rankings.
The Sun Devils dropped a midweek contest at UNLV but responded by taking all three at Utah. It was the first road sweep in a conference series by a Big 12 team this season and just the 14th conference road sweep for a Power Four program this year.
With the weekend sweep, ASU now moves to 12-3 in its last 15 true road games dating back to last season, averaging 9.8 runs per game in those. The team was 18-38 in its previous 56 road games prior to the current stretch.
The Sun Devils won their fourth-straight road series dating back to last season, the first time the program has accomplished that feat since winning the last three road series of 2021 and the first of 2022.
The team will now return to Phoenix Municipal Stadium to host five straight games. Cal State Fullerton is set to pay a visit on Tuesday night, with things slated for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch. ASU leads the all-time series 39-28 heading into the matchup.
The Territorial Cup will then make its Big 12 debut as rival Arizona comes to town in what should be a regional-like atmosphere at Muni. The Wildcats are ranked No. 22 in Baseball America's Top-25, No. 20 by Perfect Game and No. 24 by the NCBWA. ASU fell just short in the lone matchup this season, suffering a 3-2 loss in a midweek contest on March 11 in Tucson. The Sun Devils will look to defend home turf and hold onto the rivalry after taking the historic series in back-to-back years. The series will mark the first time the two programs have played while both were ranked since the 2015 season.
Tuesday through Saturday's games will be streamed on ESPN+, while Sunday evening's matchup will be televised nationally on ESPN2. All games will have a radio broadcast over the airwaves on KDUS AM 1060
