TEMPE – The Sun Devil women's basketball team was not able to keep up with a Utah squad that connected on 18 3-pointers in a 98-62 loss to the Utes on Saturday.

Tyi Skinner (20 points/has now scored in double figures in double figures in 23 of 26 games) and Jalyn Brown (15 points/has now scored in double figures in 19 of 23 games) were the primary sources of offense for ASU. Jyah LoVett just her missed posting her 15th double-digit scoring game with eight points (4-8 FGs).

Skinner, who had her seventh 20-point game of the season, hit a team-high three 3-pointers (now has 63 this season) and moved into fifth place for most 3-pointers by a Sun Devil in a season.

Brown led the Sun Devils (8-18, 2-12 Big 12) in both assists (three) and steals (three) and Kennedy Basham (seven rebounds seven points) led ASU in rebounds for the third straight game.

Makayla Moore, who over the last three games was second on the team in rebounds (6.7 rpg) and tied for the team lead in offensive boards (3.3 rpg) – made her second start of the season and scored six points while pulling down five rebounds.

The Utes (20-5, 11-3 Big 12) were able separate themselves from the Sun Devils with an 11-0 run that put them up 16-4 with 3:32 remaining in the first quarter.

The second quarter was ASU's best of the game on the offensive end. Down by 15, the Sun Devils scored eight straight points – Skinner with a 3-pointer and a 3-point play and Brown with a layup after a steal – to get within seven, 34-27.

After the teams exchanged 3-pointers on the game's next three possessions, Skinner made a pair of free throws to keep Utah's lead in single digits, 40-32.

A 9-2 by the Utes over the last 1:42 of the quarter allowed them to take a 49-34 advantage into the locker room.

After not being able to score any points in the first quarter, Skinner scored 11 points in the second quarter, just over half of ASU's 21 points in the frame. For Skinner, it was the fourth time this season she scored 10 or more points in a quarter.

The Utes scored the first nine points of the third quarter to increase their lead to 22, a deficit that proved to be too much for the Sun Devils to overcome.
