The Arizona State Sun Devil Football team (8-4; 6-3 in the Big 12) will try for 20 wins in the past two seasons when it travels to the Sun Bowl to take on ACC champion Duke (8-5; 6-2 in the ACC) for a noon MT kick on CBS on Dec. 31.
Arizona State, the only team to defeat Big 12 champion Texas Tech and the 2024 Big 12 champion, will return to El Paso for the eighth time as it is 4-2-1 in the bowl, the most recent visit a 20-14 win over Florida State on Dec. 31, 2019.
ASU’s last trip to El Paso in 2019 resulted in a 20-14 win over Florida State, while the Sun Devils also have wins over Duke (2014), Purdue (2004) and Iowa (1997).
The only other time ASU and Duke have played each other in football was also in the Sun Bowl back in 2014.
