COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Sun Devil Hockey sophomore forward Cullen Potter was named NCHC Forward of the Week after tallying four points against Ohio State last weekend, the league office announced Tuesday morning.
Potter scored two goals and had two assists, one coming each night of the series against the Buckeyes. This is the first NCHC weekly honor of his career after being named to the NCHC All-Rookie Team last season.
On Friday, he tallied the team’s first goal of the series, then later assisted on senior forward Cruz Lucius’ game-winning goal in overtime to give the Sun Devils a 3-2 win. It marked his second multi-point game of the season.
Following his two-point outing, he assisted on freshman defenseman Joel Kjellberg’s first career goal, en route to the Sun Devils coming back from being down 3-0. In overtime, Potter slotted a wrist shot to score his second goal of the weekend, giving ASU the 4-3 win and series sweep over Ohio State.
Potter is currently on a seven-game point streak, which is tied for the second-longest point streak in program history and makes him the fifth different Sun Devil to do so. The sophomore was good for a +4 plus/minus on the ice over the weekend.
