TEMPE- Sun Devil Triathlon capped off the 2025 season with a second-place finish at the National Championships on Saturday at Tempe Beach Park. A pair of Sun Devils earned top-7 finishes after Sidney Clement's fifth-place finish (1:03:20) and Alex Campbell's sixth-place finish (1:03:28) en route to their CTCA All-American honors. Sonja De Koning was named Division 1 Freshman of the year after her 10:05:07 finish, the fastest among her class.
After Clement and Campbell crossed the finish line, the next finisher for the Maroon and Gold was Naomi Ruff, who claimed ninth place after her 1:03:50 finish. Ruff bounced back in the run and posted the 7th-best time on the day, after falling behind to 25th out of the swim and bike portion.
Zoe Mari Adam was the fourth Sun Devil to score after finishing in 1:04:08, placing 14th on the day. The final racer contributing to the team's overall point total was Britney Brown, who saw a 21st-place finish after a time of 1:04:33.
Sonja De Koning, the only freshman racer for ASU, finished in 1:05:07, which had her in 25th place. De Koning is the first Sun Devil since Alexe Coursol to earn Division 1 Freshman of the Year honors. She posted the team's best swim time of 10:13 and was the eighth racer out of the water in the heat.
Alice Alessandri, who raced in her first national championship as a true freshman last season, posted a 28th-place finish after crossing the finish line in 1:05:25.
