LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior opposite hitter Noemie Glover was named a semifinalist for the AVCA National Player of the Year Award after a dominant first season with the Sun Devil Volleyball.
Glover, the only player in the Big 12 on the list, leads the team in kills with 266 in 17 matches played, averaging 4.36 kills per set. She’s also earned double-digit kills in every match except one that she’s played in, and she has reached 20 or more kills three times. Glover has a hitting percentage of .366 and has hit below .300 just four times and has hit over .400 seven times.
Glover has been named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week twice this season, in addition to earning Big 12 Preseason Team honors. She has earned career highs in every category this season: 25 kills (at Kansas), .696 hitting percentage (vs. Texas Tech) and 10 blocks (vs. Penn State).
No. 8 Sun Devil Volleyball is 19-3 so far and are 10-1 in conference play. They have also remained undefeated at home. Arizona State has six ranked wins so far this season and is tied for first in the Big 12 standings.
The first group of semifinalists was announced today, with the full list on the AVCA website. The second half of semifinalists will be announced tomorrow. The four finalists are to be announced on Dec. 15, and the player of the year will be revealed on Dec. 19 at the AVCA Awards Banquet in Kansas City, Missouri.
