Set One: ASU 25, TTU 6
Arizona State started set one off strong with a 4-1 lead, capitalizing on Texas Tech’s hitting errors. A push from TTU brought it back to 4-3. Kills from Lomigoria and Glover helped push the Sun Devils to a 9-4 lead, forcing the Red Raiders to call their first timeout of the night. Coming out of the timeout, Glover wasn’t done just yet with an immediate kill followed by an ace from Miller. The Devils’ defense was on fire as Lomigoria refused to let much past with three-straight blocks extending the lead to 15-4. The offense kept the flame ablaze with kills from Glover and an ace from Miller that left Texas Tech struggling to stay in the game. ASU had a 14-point unanswered run, sitting strong at 20-4. A Kiylah Presley kill swiftly ended the first set, 25-6.

Set Two: ASU 25, TTU 20
Some early errors kept the second set close to start. Texas Tech earned some kills but not before a block from Presley and Colby Neal upped the lead to 7-5. The Red Raiders were able to get back on top at 9-7, but it wasn’t long before two kills from Presley tied things back up 9-9. A pair of kills from Miller gave ASU the push to lead 13-10, with Sydney Henry’s ace and another kill from Glover furthering it to 16-11. A few hitting errors from ASU allowed Texas Tech to trail not too far behind, 19-16. Quotes
Head coach JJ Van Niel
Opening Statement:
“Really fun environment. It was nice to see our team respond after a tough loss. We played out and probably played one of our more consistent matches. I thought my coaches did a really, really nice job on the scouting report. And the players did a really good job executing it, so good match.”

On Ella Lomigora blocking with Noemie Glover:
“We flipped Ella and Colby in this match. There's just some things systematically that we thought would help us a little better if we did that. Colby didn't have as many opportunities because she wasn't on the floor quite as much as Lom was. But the nice thing about both of them is we can switch them back and forth based on matchups and whatever we want to do. So it's nice to have that flexibility, and it worked for us tonight.”

On starting strong in the opening set:
“We've been pretty good in our opening sets. I was actually happier with how we responded in the second set. It was a little sloppy at the start, and then we kind of cleaned it up. I think our last three matches at home, we've crushed them in the first set and then laid an egg in the second, so it was nice to see us kind of maintain the mental toughness to keep pushing.”

Junior Middle Blocker Ella Lomigora
On the teams performance tonight:
“I just feel like we were really aggressive on the service line and I think that that contributed a lot to us being really strong defensively and contributed to blocks. We were really good on scouting and knowing our rotations. They were changing a lot of their lineups, but we just stayed calm and we're constantly communicating on the front row, which just brought a lot of confidence to each other. It just made it really easy to execute.”

On staying focused throughout the week ahead of Friday’s matchup versus BYU:
“I think just taking each day at a time, one game at a time. We focused tonight, we took care of business and now it's a quick turnaround. But tomorrow we're going to come in ready to work and just be really intentional with every rep that we take so that we can be prepared for Friday.”

Junior Opposite Noemie Glover
On tonight’s win:
“Obviously we have a plan that’s set. Our coaches did a great job this week of coming out strong and I know last week didn’t go how we wanted, so that lit a fire under us. In that halfway point of the season, there’s only two ways you can go and it’s either taking it meekly or coming in strong and aggressive. That’s what we did and it really paid off.”

On her dominant offensive game:
“It’s just about being a versatile attacker, being able to hit all the shots in the court, tip around the court, keeping the defenders guessing. They don’t know where you’re going to swing. You can swing, you can hit, being all over the board is important. Obviously if one shot is working you can do it a couple of times, but eventually teams are going to pick up on that so just being unscoutable is the goal.”
