IRVING, Texas – Sun Devil Swimming was recognized with four weekly swimming awards when the Big 12 Conference announced the honors on Wednesday afternoon.

Junior Ilya Kharun earned his third Men’s Swimmer of the Week honor of the season, while sophomore Julia Ullmann won her second Women’s Swimmer of the Week award this year. Graduate Remi Fabiani earned Men's Newcomer of the Week and senior transfer Gerda Szilagyi won her first career Big 12 weekly honor by being tabbed as Women's Co-Newcomer of the Week.

Kharun played an essential role in helping the Sun Devils win the inaugural CSCAA Dual Meet Challenge by winning every individual event. He set school records in both the 100 fly (43.38) and the 200 fly (1:37.56), then swam the fastest 50 fly leg in the 200 medley relay by hitting the wall in 18.68. The 2024 bronze medalist helped the Sun Devils win the 200 free relay and the 200 medley relay in the championship dual against No. 9 Tennessee last Sunday.

Ullmann set a school record in the 100 fly in 51.25 against No. 1 Virginia last Friday, taking nearly half-a-second off her previous best. She set a personal best in the 200 fly against No. 8 Tenneesee in 1:55.80 and helped the Sun Devils place first in the 200 medley relay against the Lady Vols on Sunday with a 23.20 50 fly split.

Fabiani saved the best for the championship dual against No. 9 Tennessee. He set personal best times in the 100 free (41.10) and the 200 free (1:31.23). The graduate student helped the Sun Devils win the 200 free relay with a 18.79 leadoff 50 free leg in the win. 

Szilagyi set personal bests in the 200 back touching the wall in 1:53.56 and in the 50 free in 22.53. She got the win against the Lady Vols last Saturday with a time of 1:55.22.

Select team members will compete at the U.S. Open Swimming Championships in Austin, Texas set for December 3-6. The Sun Devils will resume their regular season on January 2, 2026, when ASU hosts GCU at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center at 12 p.m. MST.
