Sun Devil outlook
No. 8 Arizona State (12-2, 3-0 Big 12)

  • Last week, the Sun Devils played just one match, hosting Utah and sweeping the match in dominant fashion.
  • ASU is currently on a six-match winning streak. Additionally, Arizona State has not lost a Big 12 match at home and has won 19 conference matches in a row. It is the fourth-longest conference winning streak in the nation.
  • The Sun Devils have locked down their opponents this season, currently ranked No. 10 in the nation and first in the Big 12 for opponent hitting percentage (.151). The Sun Devils held the Utes to a .092 hitting percentage, the sixth match in a row ASU has held its opponents to a sub-.200 clip. It is also the fourth time this season that Arizona State has kept a team to a hitting percentage below .100.
  • Graduate middle blocker Colby Neal is No. 20 in the nation and first in the conference for blocks per set with 1.44. She leads the team with 65 blocks on the year. She has had six blocks in the last four matches and nine total matches with at least five blocks.
  • The Sun Devils are defending their home court, where they are 6-0 this season. Under head coach JJ Van Niel, ASU is 28-2 at home. There have been two matches so far with over 4,000 in attendance this season.
  • Arizona State is 2-2 against ranked opponents this year, earning wins over then-No. 2 Penn State and then-No. 18 Kansas. Both opponents are ranked this week, with Colorado new to the top 25 this week.

Opponent outlook
No. 16 Baylor (9-4, 4-1 Big 12)

  • The Bears split last week at home, sweeping Houston before falling in five to No. 18 Kansas. All four of Baylor’s losses this season are to ranked opponents.
  • ASU has a 1-3 record in the all-time series against Baylor. The Bears gave the Sun Devils their lone Big 12 loss last season. Arizona State’s last win over Baylor came in the first meeting back on October 11, 1986, which was a sweep. All four matchups have been in Waco, Texas.

No. 24 Colorado (13-2, 4-0 Big 12)

  • The Buffs currently lead the Big 12 with a perfect 4-0 start, most recently beating UCF and Houston at home. Colorado started the conference slate with two ranked road wins at BYU and Utah.
  • The Sun Devils lead the Buffs 15-13 in the all-time series, including the last three in a row. Last season, the teams met in Boulder, where ASU won 3-1 and clinched the 2024 Big 12 title.
