TEMPE – Sun Devil Triathlon is set for their final race of the regular season, heading east to compete at the East Regional National Qualifier in Troutman, North Carolina at Lake Norman State Park. The race kicks off at 7:00 a.m. MST and consists of a 750-meter swim, 19K bike, and a 5K run.
ASU has not competed in the East Regional Qualifier since 2019, and instead has participated in the West Regional Qualifier the previous four seasons. Due to a second-place finish in the 2024 National Championship, the Sun Devils were seeded in the east region as teams 1-6 alternate regional sites.
This season, the Sun Devils have placed in the top three in each of the races they have made an appearance. Arizona State finished second at their previous race, the Duel in the Desert, which was hosted in Arizona. Sidney Clement was the first Sun Devil to complete the race and placed 3rd with a time of 30:06.42, while senior Naomi Ruff finished fourth in 30:10.08.
2025 National Championships
Following the regional, on Saturday, November 8, Sun Devil Triathlon returns to Tempe to host the 2025 USA Triatlon Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championships. The Maroon and Gold will look to claim its eighth national title, after placing second in last year’s contest.
