#15 Hockey falls on the road at Augustana
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – No. 15 Sun Devil Hockey (2-4-0, 0-0-0 NCHC) suffered a 5-2 (EN) loss at the hands of Augustana (3-1-0, 0-0-0 CCHA) on Saturday night at Midco Arena. Senior Cruz Lucius netted two goals to increase his team’s lead to six in as many games.
Arizona State stayed within reach for most of the contest as Lucius’ second goal made it a one-goal game with 16:07 to play in the third period. Lucius has now recorded two multi-goal games in six outings after scoring just two goals across 19 games in 2024-25.
While the Sun Devils continued to generate chances, a Vikings third-period goal with 9:50 remaining proved to be the dagger. ASU made a last-ditch effort by pulling goaltender Samuel Urban with four minutes to go in hopes of a late strike. However, Augustana added an empty-net goal to extend its lead to three with just over two minutes to play.
The Sun Devils will look to regroup on the week off before opening up conference play as the team will visit Miami for a weekend series beginning Friday, Oct. 31.
