Adam Chaney and Remi Fabiani earn Big 12 Weekly Honors for Swim and Dive
IRVING, Texas – Sun Devil Men’s Swim and Dive received recognition in the Big 12 Conference’s weekly awards Thursday morning for the second-consecutive week.
Graduate student Adam Chaney was named Big 12 Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while Cal Baptist transfer Remi Fabiani earned the honor of Big 12 Men’s Newcomer of the Week after their exemplary performances at the All-Arizona Showdown.
Chaney won his first Big 12 Swimmer of the Week award after placing first with a time of 18.95 in the Men 50 Yard Freestyle. That marked the sixth-fastest time in Sun Devil history. Chaney also helped earn a first-place finish in both the Men 200 Yard Medley Relay and the Men 100 Yard Freestyle Relay with a 7.98 25-yard free split.
A graduate, Fabiani earned his first Big 12 weekly accolade as a Sun Devil following a first-place finish in the Men 200 Yard Freestyle, with a time of 1:32.66. He placed second in the Men 100 Yard Backstroke (45.96), the 10th-fastest time in ASU history. Fabiani also helped the Sun Devils earn first in the Men 100 Yard Relay, starting the race off strong with a time of 8.69.
The Sun Devils are set to compete at No. 3 Stanford on Friday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. MST then at No. 4 Calfiornia on Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. MST.
