Sun Devil Outlook
Arizona State (2-1, 0-0 Big 12)
- ASU started the season with a sweep at Northern Iowa, following that up with a win over defending champions then-No. 2 Penn State in four sets as part of the State Farm Volleyball Showcase. The showcase ended with a matchup with No. 9 Pitt on Labor Day, with the Sun Devils falling in straight sets.
- Junior Noemie Glover is this week’s Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week after a stellar Sun Devil debut over the weekend. She had double-digit kills in every match to start the season. She opened with 17 kills in the win at Northern Iowa, which was a career high. Then she followed that up with 22 kills in the upset over defending national champions then-No. 2 Penn State. In that statement win, she also had 10 blocks to match her career high and give her a double-double the hard way.
- Last season, ASU went 14-1 at home. Arizona State set attendance records in 2024 with six matches in the top 10 for attendance. There were nine matches with over 3,000 in attendance and six with over 4,000. ASU ranked No. 15 in total attendance and in average attendance (3,389).
Opponent Outlook
- Florida Gulf Coast (2-1) was at home to start the season, dropping the season opener to then-No. 17 Mizzou but bouncing back with two wins. This is the second meeting between these two programs, with ASU winning the first back in 2023 at FGCU in JJ Van Niel’s first match as head coach.
- Loyola Marymount (0-2) hosted Denver and then-No. 21 USC to start the season, falling in both. This will be the first meeting in 13 years between LMU and ASU, with the Sun Devils winning the last meeting in 2012.
- Both teams have first-year head coaches: Thais Baziquetto-Allen with FGCU and Kolby O’Donnell from LMU.
