TUCSON, Ariz. – Sun Devil Triathlon participated in the first race on Arizona triathlon’s home turf on Saturday morning, and saw seven racers make the final round, which concluded with a podium finish from Sidney Clement. ASU’s 54 points were six shy of Arizona’s 60, which was enough for the home team to claim the Duel in the Desert title.
In the preliminary round, all 13 on the ASU roster raced, and seven made the cut for the finals which was the top-14 qualifying times.
Sidney Clement was the first Sun Devil finisher in 3rd after her 30:06.42. Naomi Ruff was right behind in 4th place after crossing the finish line in 30:10.08.
The next ASU finisher was Alex Campbell, whose 30:26.84 was enough for 6th place, followed by Zoe Mari Adam in 7th place (30:28.74).
The final three racers were Britney Brown (30:53.12), Alice Alessandri (31:21.97), and Cara Macdonald (31:22.91) who earned 11th, 13th, and 14th place, respectively.

The Sun Devils have a month of rest before hitting the road to Troutman, North Carolina where the team will compete in the East Regional Qualifiers on October 25.
