The Sun Devil men’s golf team – with a 23-0-1 head-to-head record through two tournaments this year – heads to the 19thOlympia Fields Country Club’s Fighting Illini Invitational held at Olympia Field Country Club Friday through Sunday. It marks the fifth straight year ASU will compete in the three-day tournament.

ASU is joined in the 15-team field by Alabama, Baylor, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, LMU, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.

Arizona did it all but win the 2024 OFCC Fighting Illini Invitational, as it shot 11-under 829 that included the best 36-hole team score in tournament history (549). Josele Ballester shot 10-under 10 (64-66-70) to win the individual title, but Georgia Tech won by one stroke.

Sun Devil Niklas Lemke won the first title here in 2026 with a 1-over 211, while ASU won the team title with a 30-over 870.

The Sun Devils split the team title with New Mexico on Monday-Tuesday at Utah's Wohali Tournament, as it shot 14-under 838. Every Sun Devil shot under par, as Connor Williams tied for medalist honors that included 65s to open and close the tournament., while Michael Mjaasetch shot 6-under 65 in the final round to notch his 12th top-10 finish. It marked the 28th team title for Matt Thurmond and the first career top spot for Williams, who finished last year strong with great tournaments at the Big 12 Championship (second), fifth at NCAA Bremerton Regional and tied for seventh at the NCAA Championships.
