IRVING, Texas – Following her standout performance in Sun Devil Soccer’s 4-1 win against UTEP on Friday, Sept. 12, Addison Baltodano was selected as the Big 12 Conference’s Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Baltodano is the first Sun Devil Soccer student-athlete to pick up one of the conference’s weekly honors since Kierra Blundell was selected on Sept. 4, 2024 as the Big 12 Freshman of the Week. Overall, Baltodano’s honor is the 40th all-time conference weekly award for the program.
Baltodano, a Chandler, Ariz., native, was credited with an assist on Tatum Thomason’s game-winning goal at the 58:19 mark against the Miners, before scoring the squad’s fourth goal of the match with less than six minutes remaining in regulation. Her three points (two for the goal, one for the assist) set a career high for the freshman.
The performance was also the first time the multi-position standout scored a goal and was credited with an assist during the same match in her collegiate soccer career. Baltodano joins Thomason and Cameron Valladares as the only Sun Devil women’s soccer student-athletes to accomplish the feat this season. She has now been credited with an assist in back-to-back matches for the first time in her career.
