TEMPE – Having concluded the non-conference portion of its 2025 schedule without losing a match, the Sun Devil Women’s Soccer program will now turn its attention to Big 12 Conference action when the No. 10 ranked BYU Cougars come to Sun Devil Soccer Stadium.

The match, which marks the first time BYU has played Arizona State in Tempe since 2005, is slated for a 7 p.m. MST kick off on Thursday, Sept. 18.

TELEVISION:

  • Thursday’s match between Arizona State and BYU will be available to watch on ESPN+ and stream on the ESPN app with Ryan Sykora (play by play) and Adrian Pelayo (analyst) calling the match’s action.

SERIES HISTORY:

  • BYU took the last meeting between the two programs, 1-0, in Provo, Utah on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024.
  • Overall, the Cougars lead the all-time series, 4-1, over the Sun Devils.
  • Arizona State is looking for its first win over BYU since beating the Cougars, 3-2, in Utah on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004.
  • Over the course of the five-match series, Arizona State is 0-2 against BYU in matches played in Tempe.
  • Thursday’s match will mark the first time BYU has played Arizona State in Tempe since Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, when the Cougars beat the Sun Devils 3-1.

KICKING OFF:

  • Arizona State will be entering Thursday night’s matchup against BYU riding a six-match winning streak, which is the longest since the 2014 season (Aug. 31 – Sept. 19). If the Sun Devils knock off the Cougars, ASU will have its first seven-match winning streak since the 2002 season (Sept. 13 – Oct. 11). The program’s longest winning streak is 12, which started on Oct. 31, 1999, and ran to Sept. 24, 2000.
  • With her next assist, Arizona State’s senior midfielder Cameron Valladares will be credited with her seventh on the season, which would be the most by a Sun Devil since Lucy Johnson registered eight throughout the 2022 campaign. The program’s single season assist record is 10 set by Eva van Deursen during the 2021 season.
  • Arizona State will be looking for its first win over a ranked foe since Oct. 19, 2023, when the then-No. 24 Sun Devils beat then-No. 11 USC, 1-0, in Tempe. Feb. 26, 2020 was the last time an unranked ASU squad beat a ranked opponent as the Sun Devils beat then-No. 10 USC, 1-0, in Tempe.
  • Sept. 22, 2023 was the last time Arizona State won a conference-opening match as the Sun Devils beat Oregon State, 2-0, in Tempe.
  • A win over BYU on Thursday evening would mark just the second time in program history that Arizona State has won at least eight matches over the first nine matches to begin a season. The 2000 squad began its season with nine wins in its first nine matches.
