SOUTHERN HILLS - In Saturday morning's season-opening race, Sun Devil Triathlon placed third behind Arizona and TCU in the Southern Hills Super Sprint in South Dakota. Four new faces raced for the Maroon and Gold, including junior transfer Alex Campbell who earned a team-best second-place finish with a 31:16 time. She was one of two Sun Devils in the top 10 after Britney Brown claimed tenth (31:47).
Head Coach Cliff English praised the team's grit, " It was a good first race for the team, and a good opportunity to see what is going well and what we need to continue to work on. I saw some very strong performances from our returners and new athletes."
Seven Sun Devils raced and capped off the 207 points for ASU's third place finish. Following Campbell and Brown was Alice Alessandri, whose 32:09 time was good enough for 14th overall.
