TEMPE – After making its 37th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and completing its inaugural season in the Big 12 Conference, Sun Devil Women's Tennis announced the additions of Zlata Bartanusz and Vivian Ovrootsky for the 2025-26 season under head coach Jamea Jackson.
Coming from France, Bartanusz has won two ITF junior doubles titles and added an ITF junior singles title in 2023. Bartanusz has had a career-high ITF junior ranking of No. 502, which she reached in April 2023, and she is the No. 19 ranked junior in France, according to UTR Sports. She also has a world tennis number (WTN) of 19.2 in singles play and a WTN of 23.9 in doubles. Additionally, Bartanusz has a UTR rating of 9.27 and won five-straight singles matches to make a quarterfinal appearance in the ITF J100 Manacor tournament in Spain earlier this year.
Vivian Ovrootsky joins the Sun Devils after spending four seasons playing for Texas. Ovrootsky has compiled a 71-28 career record in singles and a 50-27 career record in doubles. As a redshirt junior this past season, she was 24-7 in singles. The San Jose, California native played primarily from the No. 6 spot this past season and registered an 8-0 record, which helped the Longhorns to a super regional appearance in the NCAA Tournament. She has a career high ITA ranking of No. 78 in singles and No. 75 in doubles in her collegiate career and was part of the 2022 national championship squad that went 31-1. In 2024, Ovrootsky was part of a successful doubles pair with current volunteer assistant coach Charlotte Chavatipon, going 3-0 in NCAA doubles tournament and clinching seven doubles points over ranked opponents as a redshirt sophomore. When she committed to Texas in 2021, she reached the No. 1 spot nationally by TennisRecruiting.net.
Jackson and the Sun Devlls are coming off their inaugural season playing in the Big 12 with a 15-10 record and a sixth place finish in the conference. The team made their 39th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament, featuring Sara Svetac and Emilija Tverijonaite boasting top-100 singles rankings for the entire dual season.
