IRVING– On Wednesday, the Big 12 Conference announced the year-end awards, and Sun Devil Men's Tennis was represented by sophomore Bor Artnak who was named to the All-Big 12 Singles Team.
The Slovenian native, who is currently #42 in the ITA singles polls, led the team in singles wins with 13 this season, 12 of which have come from the first position.
He peaked at #36 in the singles rankings this season, which was a career high for Artnak.
The sophomore was a one-time selection as Big 12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week this season which came following three upset wins in the undefeated weekend for ASU in the UTR College Championships.
In the first match of the UTR College Championship against No. 26 Princeton, Artnak who was ranked #109 at the time defeated Princeton's #40 Paul Inchauspe in straight sets from the first position: 7-6(5), 7-6(4).
Then against No. 14 Baylor, Artnak took down Baylor's #15-ranked pair alongside Daniel Phillips, 7-6(5). He followed up with another straight-set win over #40 Devin Badenhorst 6-3, 6-3 to lead ASU to the upset.
He has also been a part of two ranked doubles teams this season alongside teammates Daniel Phillips and Matic Dimic.
