Strike First, Finish Strong
ASU has been jumping on teams early in games this season, outscoring the opposition 78-36 in the first two innings. That includes 49 runs scored in the first inning. They are 15-1 when scoring in the first inning and 19-3 when scoring first overall.

And while scoring in the first has been key, the Sun Devils have also scored late to put teams away. ASU has outscored their opponents 40-24 in the fifth and 24-18 in the sixth. That 64-42 advantage in the later innings has helped the team go 18-1 when leading after five and 20-0 when leading after six.

Youth Movement
One of the youngest teams in the country, ASU has had eight freshmen make at least one appearance so far this season. Those freshmen have combined to make 220 starts, accounting for 40 percent of all starts for the year.

The freshman class is batting .289 with a .902 OPS. They have combined to hit 24 of the team's 42 home runs while driving in 76. The two freshman pitchers are 7-5 with 50 strikeouts.

Brown had 18 strikeouts against BYU on Mar. 6 to tie the ASU record for strikeouts in a 7-inning game. Her nine games with double-digit strikeouts are the most by a Sun Devil since G Juarez in 2018.

In addition to her strikeout totals, Brown is tied for the Big 12 lead with 15 wins. She is second in the conference with a 0.91 WHIP and third with her 1.16 ERA.
