LAS VEGAS – The Arizona State Men's Basketball squad (13-20) fell to Nebraska (18-14) 86-78 in the opening round of the College Basketball Crown Monday night at MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Alston Mason and Basheer Jihad led the way for the Sun Devils accounting for 44 of the teams 86 points. Mason secured his fourth 20+ point performance of the year leading the way with 23 points. Jihad tallied his sixth game with 20+ points of the season including a season-high 12-of-14 from the charity stripe while also grabbing a team-high seven boards.

Jihad's 15 first half points helped carry Arizona State to a 38-30 lead after the opening 20 minutes, including ending the half on a 14-4 run that stifled the Cornhuskers offense with only one made field-goal in the final five minutes of the half.

However, Nebraska outscored Arizona State 21-8 in an eight-minute stretch in the second half to take a 79-67 lead which proved too large of a deficit to overcome. Mason compiled 15 of his 23 points in the second half shooting 5-of-9 and dishing three assists for his fourth 20+ point performance this year.

The Sun Devils registered two blocks on the year, both by Mason bringing the teams total to 144 blocks which is the eighth most in program history. Adam Miller reached double figures for for the 13th time this season scoring 15 points on 6-of-14 from the field while grabbing three rebounds.
