TEMPE – No. 37 Sun Devil Men's Tennis (10-8, 2-3) wraps up the weekend with a 4-3 win over No. 74 Oklahoma State on Sunday at Whiteman Tennis Center. Going 2-0 on the weekend, ASU recorded their first two conference victories of the season in their inaugural year in the Big 12.
The Maroon & Gold fell behind to start Sunday's match in doubles. While the No. 66 ranked pair of Bor Artnak and Daniel Phillips overcame the No. 58 ranked duo for Oklahoma State 6-3, it was not enough to claim the opening point of the contest, as ASU dropped doubles on courts two and three.
Led by their top four singles players, the Sun Devils quickly turned things around. Matic Dimic secured the first win for ASU in straight sets, notching a 6-1, 6-3 win in just under an hour. Mathis Bondaz and Nicola Cigna who won their matches on courts two and three while five and six fell in straight sets.
Tied 3-3, Artnak closed out the victory for the Sun Devils with a win over #87 Isaac Becroft. Artnak took the first set with a dominant performance in a tiebreak and rolled his momentum into the second set, cruising to the 7-6(0), 6-1 victory.
