TEMPE – Sun Devil Softball dropped the second game of its three-game series with No. 10/10 Arizona 5-1 on Saturday night at Farrington Stadium.
Arizona struck first on an RBI single in the first. The Sun Devils threatened in the second but could not bring any runs home. Arizona added two more runs in the third to make the score 3-0. The sixth inning featured a two-run homer by the Wildcats to cap their scoring in the game.
ASU showed signs of life in the seventh with Samantha delivering her second double of the game. AJ Murphy followed with a run-scoring single to get the Sun Devils on the board.
Swan's two doubles accounted for two of the team's five hits for the game.
Meika Lauppe struck out four in her 5.2 innings in the circle. Julianne Tipton held Arizona scoreless on one hit over the final 1.1 innings.
