TEMPE – On a particularly warm day in Tempe, No. T-8 Sun Devil Water Polo (17-5, 1-2 MPSF) was able to hold off No. 10 Indiana (16-7, 0-3 MPSF) to take their first conference win of the season at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center on Saturday, 16-11.

Millie Quin stole the show recording a career-high 7 goals en route to the top-10 victory. This is Quin's 13th game in a row where she has tallied a point, totaling the point streak to 63 points. Quin is now only nine points away from a 100 point season.

The defensive presence against the Hoosiers saw season-high's in team steals and field blocks. In goal, Freshman goaltender Keri Glad was a brick wall and recorded 13 saves with a 54.3% save percentage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
A back-and-forth first quarter gave ASU the lead to begin the game. Sophie Shorter-Robison and Millie Quin opened the scoring with two goals in the first two minutes of the contest. After the Hoosiers evened things up with two goals back, Millie Quin took matters into her own hands with two more goals of her own as the Sun Devils led 4-3 heading into the second quarter.

Quin continued to display her dominance in the first half, tacking on two more goals as the Sun Devils looked to expand upon their lead. Indiana fought to keep up in the scoring column though as it remained a one-goal game at the half, 7-6.

Halftime adjustments from both sides led to a defensive start to the third quarter. While the Sun Devils looked to take control of the game, the Hoosiers would not go away. Goals by Itziar Almeda, Quin and Shorter-Robinson were enough to hold off the Indiana offense as ASU clung to a 10-9 advantage.

Heading into the fourth quarter, the Sun Devils were finally able to pull away after a huge contribution from the Glad sisters. With the score still close at 11-10, Keri Glad made a heroic sequence of saves to keep the Sun Devils in front. A goal by Molly Glad on the other end of the pool opened the flood gates as ASU scored four straight goals to claim the 16-11 win.
