TEMPE – To close out the regular season, Sun Devil Gymnastics will compete in two quad meets hosted by No. 6 Cal, the first on March 14 and the second on March 16.

The Gym Devils will match up against BYU and San Jose State for the second time this season. Additionally, they will see former Pac-12 opponents Cal, Washington, and Stanford for the first time since joining the Big 12. 

How to Follow
The first quad meet is on March 14 at 7 p.m. PDT/MST and will feature Cal, BYU and Washington alongside ASU. For the second quad, Arizona State will compete against Cal, San Jose State and Stanford, beginning at 2 p.m. PDT/MST. 

The meets will be streamed live on ACCNX/ESPN+, which requires a TV subscription. Live scoring will also be available. Updates will be provided on social media on X (@SunDevilGym) and Instagram (@sundevilgymnastics). 

Sun Devil Outlook
Arizona State (7-7, 2-4 Big 12)
  • Sun Devil Gymnastics came up short at No. 18 Denver on Sunday, 196.700 to 195.575. Though a step back in team score, ASU got back on track on bars by scoring a 49.125, improvement from last week and the lone event to surpass 49.000 today.
  • Junior Kimberly Smith earned a career-high 9.925 on bars to tie for first on the event and win the title. This is her fourth score of 9.9 or better in her career, third of the season. That score was the best individual mark of the meet for the Gym Devils. The other event title was won by graduate Emily White on beam with a 9.875. 
  • White had another solid outing in the all-around at Denver, scoring a 39.425. She ranks No. 30 in the nation in the all-around, with an NQS of 39.365. She earned a 9.900 on floor, a team best and her fourth-straight score of 9.9 or better, sixth overall this season. On beam, she scored a 9.875 to win the title, her 14th of the year. Eight of her nine beam routines this season have scored a 9.875 or better.
  • Graduate Jada Mangahas made her return to the all-around at Denver for the first time since March 15, 2024, scoring a 38.350. Her best scores were on vault and floor, where she scored a 9.850. On vault, she has scored below a 9.800 just twice and just once for bars.
Opponent Outlook
No. 6 Cal (18-2, 6-0 ACC)
  • The Golden Bears took home their third quad meet victory on Sunday, taking down Alabama, No. 8 Michigan State, and No. 24 North Carolina
  • Cal remains undefeated in ACC competition, with five of their six ACC victories coming against ranked conference opponents. 
  • The team went 20-3 in 2024, finishing a perfect 7-0 in Pac-12 play. The squad came in third at Pac-12 Championships, and were the NCAA national runner-ups. 
  • ASU holds a 36-11 record over the Bears, dating back to 1979. However, Cal has won the last three times the two squads have faced off. 
BYU (5-11, 3-3 Big 12)
  • BYU fell to No. 22 Arizona on Saturday, losing 195.800-196.775.
  • The Sun Devils lead the all-time series 12-2 dating back to 1978. BYU took the victory against ASU earlier this season, winning the dual meet in Provo. 
Washington (4-12, 1-8 Big 10)
  • The Gym Dawgs lost in their dual meet against No. 5 Utah on Saturday
  • Washington finished the 2024 season with a 6-16 record, posting an 0-7 mark in Pac-12 play. They came in fourth in the first session of the Pac-12 Championships, and finished fourth in session one of the NCAA Berkeley Regional. 
  • ASU holds a 28-14-1 record over the UW, dating back to 1979. The Sun Devils have won the last four meetings of the two teams. 
San Jose State (7-10-1, 2-4-1 MWC)
  • The Spartans dropped their final dual meet of the season against No. 11 Oregon State. 
  • San Jose State came in third in the Mountain West Championships in 2024, falling to Boise State and Utah State in the finals, but picking up a win over Air Force. The Spartans then fell in the first round of the NCAA Championship to Southern Utah.
  • Arizona State holds an 11-3 all-time record over the Spartans, with the first meeting of the two teams occurring in 1980. ASU beat San Jose State earlier this season at the Wasatch Classic.
No. 13 Stanford (10-3, 4-1 ACC)
  • Stanford fell to No. 3 UCLA on Sunday, their third loss of the season.
  • The Cardinal finished the 2024 season with a 3-12 mark, and were 1-6 in Pac-12 play. The squad finished fourth overall at Pac-12 Championships, their highest finish since third place in 2015. They made it to the NCAA Championships after winning in an upset in the regional finals round. 
  • The Gym Devils have a 20-20 record against the Cardinal since 1979. ASU won the meeting last season, but Stanford had a 12 meet winning streak from 1999 to 2016.
  • Stanford faces off against No. 18 Denver on Friday.
