IRVING, Texas - Sun Devil Men's Basketball freshman Jayden Quaintance was recognized for his incredible first season in Tempe.

The Big 12 Conference announced their All-Conference Men's Basketball Awards on March 10 and Arizona State's Jayden Quaintance made multiple appearances. The standout freshman for Sun Devil Men's Basketball was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman and All-Defensive teams, as voted on by the league's head coaches. He was the lone player in the conference to earn a spot on both teams.

Exclusive Company
Quaintance becomes only the fifth Big 12 player to land on both the All-Defensive and All-Freshman teams in the same year since the All-Freshman team was established prior ot the 2017-18 season. He joins an elite list of players to earn this distinction. All four previous members of the club were also first round NBA Draft picks the following year.

Freshman forward Jayden Quaintance put together one of the greatest debut seasons in program history. In 24 games for the Sun Devils, he averaged 9.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks while shooting 52.5% from the field. He also added 27 steals and 37 assists, emerging as one of the premier all-around players in the nation.

Not only has Quaintance solidified his status as a premier shot blocker nationally, he was also outstanding on the glass. He is officially the program's all-time leader in rebounds per game by a freshman, a record previously held by Ike Diogu back in 2002-03. Quaintance has 10+ rebounds in nine games. He is fourth nationally among freshmen in rebounds per game and 19th in total rebounds despite missing eight games.

Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watchlist
Sun Devil freshman forward Jayden Quaintance was one of 15 players named to the Naismith National Defensive Player of the Year Watchlist earlier in the year. He was one of two freshman to make the list, joined by Duke's Cooper Flagg. The Big 12 had three representatives on the list, as Quaintance was joined by Iowa State guard Tamin Lipsey and Houston forward Joseph Tugler.
