TEMPE – No. 11 Sun Devil Beach Volleyball looks to bounce back from a challenging opening weekend with a trip down south to Tucson for the Cactus Classic. 

Arizona State will face Boise State and No. 20 Stetson on Friday at 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. MST, respectively. Saturday will see matchups with Oregon and No. 18 Grand Canyon and the same respective times.

Sun Devil Outlook
No. 11 Arizona State (1-5)
  • The Sun Devils went 1-5 at the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Classic in Hawai'i, picking up a ranked win over No. 12 Hawaii, 5-0. The win was the first time in program history that the Devils have beaten a ranked team 5-0. 
  • The win over Hawai'i marked the third year in a row that ASU has won their season opener. Additionally, the win was the 12th ranked win under head coach Kristen Glattfelder. 
  • All five losses over the weekend came against opponents ranked within the Top 10. 
  • Arden Besecker and Ava Haughy picked up three ranked wins at the No. 4 pairing, taking down the pairs from No. 12 Hawaii, No. 3 UCLA, and No. 2 TCU.

Opponent Outlook
Boise State (0-0)
  • The Broncos will play the Sun Devils in their season opener. 
  • Boise State finished the 2024 season with a 31-12 record, the best in program history, and went 6-1 in conference play. The team made it all the way to the finals of the Southland Conference Championship. 
  • The Devils hold a 6-5 record over Boise State all-time. The most recent meeting of the two teams came in 2023, when the Broncos won 3-2. 
No. 20 Stetson (4-0)
  • The Hatters started off the season with a 4-0 showing at the Stetson Spring Fling. They won every dual in 5-0 fashion, 
  • Stetson went 22-12 in 2024, and fell in the finals of the ASUN Championship. The team finished the season as the No. 20 team in the country. 
  • ASU is 1-1 against the Hatters all-time. The most recent meeting was in 2024 at the Lopes Invitational and ended in a 4-1 Sun Devil victory. 
Oregon (3-0)
  • Oregon kicked off its season with a 3-0 finish at the Corban Invitational. 
  • The Ducks finished the 2024 season with a 5-25 record. They were 1-6 in conference play, losing both games they played at the 2024 Pac-12 Championships. 
  • The Sun Devils are 6-0 against Oregon all-time, with the most recent meeting of the two teams coming in 2024, when ASU won 5-0. 
No. 18 GCU (4-0)
  • Grand Canyon led off the season hosting the GCU Tournament, where they went 4-0, picking up three sweeps. 
  • The Lopes went 14-19 during the 2024 season. They lost both games they played in the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Championship at the end of the season. 
  • The Devils hold a 2-6 record all-time against GCU. ASU won the most recent dual between the two teams, which came in 2024.
