TEMPE – Sun Devil Gymnastics hits the road for a Big 12 matchup this Friday as the team heads to BYU, competing at 7:00 p.m. MST on ESPN+.

This is the first time these two squads will compete against each other in conference play, although the Sun Devils currently hold a 12-1 all-time series record against the Cougars.

The meet will be live on ESPN+ at 7:00 p.m. MST. There will also be live scoring. Updates will be provided on social media on X (@SunDevilGym) and Instagram (@sundevilgymnastics). 

Sun Devil Outlook
Arizona State (7-5, 2-2 Big 12)
  • In their last Big 12 matchup against West Virginia, the Gym Devils trailed after the third rotation and managed to pull through on floor with a season-high 49.350 score to come out on top over the Mountaineers. The team also set a season-high on bars with a 49.450.
  • Graduate Emily White had a shining performance in her last time competing at Desert Financial Arena. She scored two 9.950s, one on bars and one on floor, tying her career highs on both of those events and winning the event titles. For her floor score, she earned a 10 from one judge. She also notched a 39.575 in the all-around to win that title, a new season high. This season, she has seven scores of 9.900 or better and has scored below a 9.800 just four times.
  • The two other fifth years won event titles as well. Jada Mangahas won on vault with a 9.875 and Sarah Clark took the beam title with a 9.850. The two had strong performances on bars as well, with Mangahas earning a season-high 9.900 and Clark matched her season best with a 9.925.
  • This is the first of two matchups against BYU this season, as Arizona State will face them again in the Cal Quad Meet on March 14th.

Opponent Outlook
BYU (4-10, 2-3 Big 12)
  • The Cougars competed on the road against the Cyclones, scoring a 195.900 and leaving victorious.
  • BYU finished the 2024 season 12-17-1, and went 3-5 against other Big 12 Conference opponents. The Cougars qualified for NCAA Gymnastics Regionals, coming in third in their session.
  • The Sun Devils are currently 12-1 against BYU in the all-time series record, with the most recent meeting at the Super 16 Vegas Meet on January 7, 2023. Arizona State won the meet with a score of 195.775.
