LEXINGTON – No. 20 Sun Devil Men's Tennis will travel to Lexington Kentucky for the 2025 ITA Kickoff Weekend hosted by No. 12 Kentucky. Arizona State will play Nebraska on Friday, January 24 at 3 p.m. MST. On Saturday, the Sun Devils will matchup against either No. 12 Kentucky or Santa Clara, with times dependent on the result against Nebraska. The Championship Match will take place at 2 p.m. MST, while the Consolation Match will start at 10 a.m. MST. 

Wins in both matches this weekend would send the team to Dallas for the ITA Indoor National Championship February 14-18 to compete against the 15 other teams that emerged victorious in their Kickoff Weekend brackets.

SUN DEVIL NOTABLES (2-1)
  • Last season the Sun Devils advanced to the National Indoor Championship in Manhattan after defeating No. 25 Florida State and VCU in the Starkville Regional hosted by Mississippi State. 
  • No. 2 seed of the Lexington Regional
  • The duo of Daniel Phillips and Tanner Povey is 3-0 in doubles matches this season. 
  • ASU has earned the doubles point in all three matches this season.
  • Graduate transfer Matic Dimic has clinched both matches for ASU. 
  • Senior transfer Mathis Bondaz played in his first match for the Sun Devils against No. 1 Texas. He was the lone singles match to go into three sets, though he eventually fell from the second position. 
  • ASU checked in at No. 20 in the Week One ITA Polls.
PREVIEWING THE CORN HUSKERS (2-0)
  • Nebraska has picked up two 7-0 victories to open the season undefeated. 
  • The Corn Huskers participated in the Kentucky-hosted Kickoff weekend last season, and fell in their first match against Alabama, but won the consolation match against Notre Dame.  
  • Nebraska has not played on the road this season, and will get their first taste of playing on unfamiliar courts this weekend. 
  • No. 3 seed of the Lexington Regional
PREVIEWING THE WILDCATS (2-1)
  • Checked in the Week one ITA Polls at No. 12.
  • Opened the season ranked No. 7, and after winning their first two matches of the season, the Wildcats fell 5-2 to No. 23 Michigan State. 
  • The last matchup between ASU and Kentucky was back in 1991. The two teams have not met since the program's reinstatement in 2018. ASU came out on top 5-2.
  • Has two players ranked in the ITA Singles Top-100: Jaden Weekes (39) and Charlelie Cosnet (79).
PREVIEWING THE BRONCOS (1-1)
  • Santa Clara enters their first-round match against Kentucky at 1-1 on the 2025 season, defeating Sacramento State in their season opener before being swept by Oregon in a match in Eugene. 
  • No. 4 seed of the Lexington Regional
  • The Broncos are coming off a successful 2024 season in which they recorded the most team wins since 2012.
  • Peaked at No. 53 in the ITA rankings last season. 
  • Saw Head Coach Niall Angus win the Wilson/ITA Northwest Region Coach of the Year Award. 
  • SCU earned a bid to the UTR Sports NIT Championship last season, defeating Northwestern before falling to eventual champion Tulsa.
