PARIS– Competing for the Netherlands and defeating Team USA 11-10 in Saturday's Bronze Medal Match, Sun Devil water polo alumni Bente and Lieke Rogge secured the first Olympic medals of their careers, taking home bronze.

The Netherlands stunned the Americans and snapped their medal streak that dated back to 2000 when women's water polo was introduced at the Sydney Games. The bronze medal was the first for the Dames since 2008, when they defeated the USA for gold in Beijing.

Bente Rogge, who graduated from Arizona State in 2022 with her BS in Biomedical Sciences, played 26 minutes and recorded one goal in the win. Her power-play goal tied the game at 10 with just over one minute remaining during the Netherlands' five-goal run in the fourth quarter.

Lieke on the other hand took three shots in her near 10 minutes of work, but was unable to convert on any of them.
