ABOUT RYGGS JOHNSTON
Johnston became the second Sun Devil men's golfer to earn the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2022-23. Now a graduate student in his fifth season, he graduated in May of 2023 with his management degree and a certificate in sports business and is pursuing his master's degree. The Libby, MT, native led the Sun Devils to the 2024 Pac-12 title April 26-28 with a tie for second and has three straight top-10 finishes entering NCAA Regional action next week in California. He finished tied for sixth at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational (Mar. 25-26, 2024/Floridian Golf Club) and second at the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate (Apr. 12-13, 2024/Papago Golf Course). For his career, he has 13 top-10 finishes, highlighted by a third-place finish at the NCAA 2021 Championships as he earned GCAA third-team All-America honors.
ABOUT LINDSAY LOONEY
Elite 90 Award and 2024 Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year winner Looney has added to her resume of academic honors with the Kajikawa Award. She has earned CSCAA First-Team Scholar All-American and graduated Summa Cum Laude with her bachelor's degree in Psychology in May 2023 and is set to graduate with a master's degree in Family and Human Development in May 2024.
A co-captain on this year's team, Looney has had a storied five-year career as a Sun Devil. Most recently, she repeated as the Pac-12 champion in the 500 free after becoming a Pac-12 champion for the first time in her career a year ago. Looney also was a Pac-12 champion in 2023 in the 200 fly, an event she took fourth place in at the NCAA Championships last season. She also earned second-team All-America honors by taking 13th in the 500 free at NCAAs last season. At the 2022 NCAA Championships, Looney competed in the 200 fly (10th), 200 free (24th) and also competed as a part of the 800 free relay.
