BERKELEY, Calif. – After upsetting No. 11 seed UCLA to place second in the first session at regionals, Sun Devil Gymnastics is set to compete in the NCAA Regional Final on Sunday at 5 p.m. MST/PDT in Haas Pavilion.
Arizona State will compete alongside No. 3 seed Cal, No. 6 seed Denver and Stanford. The Bears and Cardinal advanced from the second session on Friday. The Sun Devils will begin on floor on Sunday. Stanford will start on vault, Denver on bars and Cal on beam. In the regular season, ASU was 1-2 against these three teams, with the lone win coming at Stanford. Three Pac-12 teams make up this regional final. The Gym Devils are one of four unseeded teams to advance to the regional finals across the country.
The meet will be live on ESPN+. The top two teams from regional finals will advance to nationals in Fort Worth, Texas from April 18-20.
Arizona State scored a 197.150 to get the upset over UCLA and advance to the regional final. This is the third-highest team score of the season and third time over a 197 in 2024 for the Sun Devils. This also was the second-highest NCAA Regionals score that ASU has ever earned and the fourth-highest postseason score in team history.
Senior Anaya Smith tied for first for the vault regional title after scoring a 9.900. This was her seventh score of 9.9 or better in 2024 and her seventh vault title this season. That is tied for the most titles on the team along with Emily White. This is the second-straight year a Sun Devil has won a regional title after Hannah Scharf won on beam last season.
There are multiple Sun Devils in good position to advance to nationals should the team not qualify. The following scenarios are if ASU does not advance as a team:

There are multiple Sun Devils in good position to advance to nationals should the team not qualify. The following scenarios are if ASU does not advance as a team:
- On vault, Anaya Smith would advance as an individual regardless of the teams that go to nationals. There were two other 9.900s on vault, but Smith wins the tiebreaker with the best score between all four judges with three 9.900s and a 9.950 from one judge.
- On bars, senior Jada Mangahas would advance as an individual only if Cal goes to nationals. Similar to Smith, there were multiple gymnasts that scored a 9.900 on bars outside of Cal, but Mangahas wins the tiebreaker with the best score between all four judges with the same scores as Smith: three 9.900s and a 9.950 from one judge.
