TEMPE – Following a much needed week away from competition, No. 9 Sun Devil Water Polo heads to California for a pair of MPSF conference games against No. 17 San Jose State and No. 4 Stanford starting this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. AZT against the Spartans. Then on Sunday the Sun Devils will face off against the Cardinal which can be seen on Pac-12 Bay Area and Pac-12 Arizona at 2:00 p.m AZT. Live stats will be available for both games on 6-8 sports.
Earlier in the ASU Invitational, the Sun Devils defeated the Spartans 9-5 in a non-conference matchup, winning their 10th straight over San Jose State led by four goals by Luca Petovary.
The Sun Devils are on track to have their first 20-win season since 2017, which would be the seventh time in program history reach the mark. The team has managed to score double-digits in 18 of 23 games this season, and will aim to extend their winning streak to seven after this weekend.
It also marks the last regular season road-trip for the Sun Devils before playing host to four straight games before heading to Bloomington, Indiana for the MPSF conference tournament.
LAST TIME OUT:
The Sun Devils earned their ninth win over a ranked opponent and stayed a perfect 9-0 at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center on March 9th defeating No. 19 Harvard 11-6. Millie Quin led the team with four goals, recording her 12th game of the year with 3+ goals this year. Petovary recorded two goals and an assist for three points which broke the program record for most points in a season at 124. In total, five other Sun Devils recorded goals contributing to the victory.

Announced on March 14. Luca Petovary was one of 22 collegiate women water polo player to be named on the Cutino Watch List, recognizing the best collegiate water polo players in the country. Petovary currently has an MPSF leading 102 goals, 22 assists for 124 points.
LUCA LEADING THE WAY:
The Senior continued her sensational senior season recording her 22nd multi-goal game against Harvard on March 9, and has three MPSF Player of the Week honors so far this year. She currently is scoring an average of 4.4 goals per game and has 10 games this season with 5+ goals, including five games with 7+ goals this year.
Earlier in the season, she broke the program record for most goals in a season against Mount St. Mary's on March 1st. In the same game she broke her own program record with 10 goals against the Mountaineers, setting an MPSF record in the process. She's currently the sixth player in MPSF history to score 100 goals in a season and she's 18 goals away from breaking the conference record.
Entering this weekend, she currently sits at 232 career goals and is five away from breaking the program record for most goals in a career. She would surpass Sun Devil Hall of Famer Addison McGrath who tallied 236 goals in her four-year career donning the maroon & gold.

Both Millie Quin and Sophie Shorter-Robinson have been vital to the Sun Devils' success this season, ranking second and third on the team in goals and points. Respectively, both rank second and third on the team in goals and points. Quin has tallied 56 goals through 23 games this season, which is tied for 12th most in a season by a Sun Devil. Shorter-Robinson has netted 43 goals this season, and has scored in 16 straight games.

- San Jose State is coming off a 16-8 defeat against the top-ranked Bruins this past weekend, falling to 0-2 in conference play.
- It marks the second meeting between both teams this weekend, with the first coming with a Sun Devil 9-5 victory in February.
- The Spartans have two players with 30+ goals a piece, with Darcy Spark leading the team with 32 goals, and Sinia Plotz tallying 30 points and leading the team with 45 points this season.
- The defending national champions have won 12 of their last 13 games, with their only defeat coming against No. 1 UCLA.
- At the Aztec invitational, they outscored opponents 36-10, defeating San Diego State and Harvard on March 9-10.
