TEMPE, Ariz. – The Sun Devil women's basketball team was unable to make it two comebacks in a row as it fell to Washington State 73-46 at Desert Financial Arena on Sunday.

Two days earlier, the Sun Devils (11-15, 3-11 Pac-12) came back from 14 points down to eventually take down Washington 73-66 in double overtime.

Down 46-39 entering the final quarter on Sunday, ASU was unable to find the same success on either side of the floor that made Friday's comeback possible. Instead, the Cougars (16-11, 5-9) hit a trio of triples and scored 12 points from the line during a quarter in which it outscored the Sun Devils 27-7.

Trayanna Crisp led ASU's effort offensively with 14 points and Jalyn Brown had 10 points to go with seven boards. Freshman Mallory Miller, who had a career-high 10 rebounds on Friday, tied Brown for the team lead with seven to go with seven points.

ASU got off to a slow start on Sunday. By the time it made its first basket of the game – it missed their first six shots – it was down 8-0. Brown brought an end to the drought after getting a layup to roll in with 5:29 remaining.

Bella Murekatete's layup with 3:33 remaining gave the Cougars their first double-digit lead of the game, 14-4. They led again 16-6 before Sousa's jumper made it a 16-8 game late in the first quarter.

WSU made 40 percent of its field goals in the first quarter (6-15), while the Sun Devils managed half of that: 20 percent/4-20. Simmons, Brown, Sousa and Miller were responsible for all eight of ASU's points.

Led by Kadidia Toure (five points) and Jaddan Simmons (four points), the Sun Devils outscored the Cougars 13-10 in the second quarter. ASU was actually able to level the score at 21-21 after Brown's free throw with just over two minutes remaining.

The Cougars bounced back with the last five points of the quarter to take a 26-21 lead at the half.

Brown and Miller teamed up to scored the first four points of the fourth quarter to quickly bring ASU within one point, 31-30. Unfortunately, in a theme that would repeat itself more than once, each time ASU inched closer the Cougars find a way to take back the momentum. In this case, WSU scored the next five points to go up by six.

The Sun Devils countered with an 8-2 run to tie the game at 33-33 on Miller's jumper.

Again, WSU refused to give up the lead, this time scoring the game's next six points.

ASU pulled within two on twice more before the quarter came to an end. On the second of those occasions, WSU scored the last five points of the quarter to enter the final quarter with a seven-point lead.

The Sun Devils will make their final regular season road trip next week when they travel to the Bay Area to face Cal on Friday (8 p.m. MST) and No. 3 Stanford on Sunday (1 p.m. MST).
