KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kierra Blundell was named the Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year on Tuesday as the conference released its 2024 soccer award winners and all-conference teams. In addition, Blundell was named to the All-Freshman Team and All-Conference Second Team, where Enasia Colon joined her.
Blundell becomes the third Sun Devil to earn top freshman honors from a conference, joining Stacey Tullock (1998) and Elizabeth Bogus (2002), who each earned the honor from the Pac-10. She is also the 10th player from ASU to be named to a conference All-Freshman Team.
Entering the Big 12 Soccer Championship, Blundell ranks fourth in the conference with 22 points, eighth with eight goals and seventh with six assists. She leads all Big 12 freshmen in points and assists and is tied for second in goals. Blundell has a pair of multi-goal games, including a hat trick against Penn on Sept. 1.
Colon earned a spot on the Big 12 All-Conference Second Team after earning the same recognition from the Pac-12 last season. Her 21 points are tied for eighth in the conference, and she is tied for third in the league with seven assists. Colon has twice recorded a brace in a game and has tallied at least one point in a game nine times this season.
ASU has now had multiple all-conference selections in three consecutive seasons and four times in the past five seasons.
